Polished Concrete Perth
There are a few different polish looks that you can choose from for your indoor area or outdoor entertaining space. The three main options have quite different appearances, and it mostly is determined by the amount of concrete grinding and polishing you wish to have and the final appearance of the floor to suit your style. A house floor or alfresco with a polished creamed finish, where just a small amount of the top layer of the concrete is polished often a 1 or 2 stepped process where the top layer is ground down or creamed by grinding. This type of finish often does not expose any aggregate in the concrete, so just making the top layer very smooth and polished. This is the purist look and is highlighting the colour of the concrete mixture you wanted.
Also for houses and alfresco areas is the small polished aggregate look. This has been called the salt and pepper polished effect, due to the small level of aggregate showing through in the polished floor. The finish here is more like a 9-13 stepped process with the grinding and polishing.
The third effect is the large aggregate polished effect, can be used indoors or outdoors though it tends to be mostly used in houses, where the desired effect is a terrazzo concrete floor. This is a much more refined and a timely process as diamond grinding is needed. This is mainly to expose the larger sized aggregate in the concrete flooring. The grinding down process is about 4 times that of the above finish. This is then naturally followed by the polishing of the floor. Thus a much larger layer of the floor in thickness is ground down to get this terrazzo effect.
A polished or honed floor has many advantages over a standard carpet or timber floor such as it’s overall price, minimal maintenance, durability, ease of cleaning, longevity, light reflection, does not show traffic wear and tear, does not scratch, does not have stain issues with red wine these are just a few of the benefits of polished concrete Perth.
